Hemus 2020 International Scientific Conference

The conference is part of the international exhibition for defence products and services "HEMUS 2020 - defense, terrorism and security", which is organized once every two years at the International Fair in Plovdiv. The topic of the forthcoming 10th International Scientific Conference is "Research and investment in technology innovation - a crusial factor for defence and security". The thematic areas are related to research, investment and technology innovation in defence and security in terms of weapons, combat systems, technologies, communication and information systems, cybersecurity, military-political, social and economic aspects of defence.

An international scientific conference is traditionally organized by the Professor Tsvetan Lazarov Institute of Defense.

Second International Scientific Conference "Digital Transformation, Cyber Security and Resilience" (DIGILIENCE 2020)

The series of DIGILIENCE conferences, the first of which took place in Sofia, 2-4 October 2019, aims to establish the state of the art and future demands in the provision of security and resilience of processes, services and systems that are heavily reliant on information technologies. Of particular interest are studies that examine systems in their interdependence or place their operation in a human or wider policy contexts, as well as evidence- and data-based studies and presentations of the respective datasets.

Co-organizers of the conference are: Institute of Information and Communication Technologies, Institute of Defence "Professor Tsvetan Lazarov", Nikola Vaptsaraov Naval Academy and European Software Institute - Central Eastern Europe.

Artificial intelligence solutions for European military missions and operations

The Sofia Security Forum and EUMC have joined forces to create a sustainable platform that enables EU Member States, European institutions, industry and academia to discuss strengthening European defence capabilities.

The overall objective of the first Artificial Intelligence (AI) workshop to be held in Sofia is to address the potential significant changes in the military field caused by this emerging technology to help EU Member States move forward. policy development, approaches and development of AI-based solutions, in particular in the field of military missions and operations.

The purpose of the seminar is to analyze the latest developments in AI and its potential military applications.

Institutional partners are the Ministry of Defence and the "Professor Tsvetan Lazarov" Institute of Defence.
